My Disability: cerebral palsy

Before I discuss disability issues and do other stuff on this site, I want to share some of my personal experiences with living with a disability.

As you probably realize, there is a wide range of disabilities in the world. My particular disability is called "cerebral palsy."

Cerebral palsy is a general term that means "brain damage." The term is given to those who obtained their brain damage sometime before, during, or shortly after birth. Cerebral palsy effects people in different ways, depending which part(s) of the brain was damaged and to what degree.

In my case, I had a normal delivery. This seems to indicate that my cerebral palsy occurred while in the womb.

I have limited use on my left side, and I used a power wheelchair as my main mode of mobility. (In other words, I can't walk.) I have a speech impairment and low vision.

Sounds like a lot to deal with? It may be, but I am still a regular woman. To find out what I mean, click below:
